@Daniel T Chen: I've long since switched to Hardy (with a fresh install) and I don't have it installed here but I don't recall ever installing such a package myself.
@BUGabundo: Of course I can apt-get clean/autoclean if I understand the problem and know what to do about it, but until one discovers what's wrong, this is a serious problem for usability... and filling up partitions on Linux can be *very bad*.
