network-manager 0.7~~svn20081004t225044-0ubuntu1

I got the same behaviour as in this bug report.
Nevertheless I'm connected to the network, even if the NM applet shows up with
a little cross, saying "No network connection".

As a side effect, Firefox always starts in offline mode, and I have to
manually switch it online.

Here are my /etc/network/interfaces :

auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

auto eth0
iface eth0 inet static
address 192.168.2.27
netmask 255.255.255.0
gateway 192.168.2.1

and my /etc/NetworkManager/nm-system-settings.conf :

[main]
plugins=ifupdown,keyfile

[ifupdown]
managed=false
