Confirmed for Intrepid. It's just a graphic glitch though, since it
works fine - menus accessible, frequency is changeable.

I've tried adding and removing the applet and it's fine when I first
added it to the panel, but when I used the computer the next day in it's
grey.

I notice that when the current frequency tooltip appears, some of it
'sticks' to the applet after it disappears, like redrawing is turned off
or something.

To reproduce:
1) Add cpu freq monitor to panel
2) Restart system
3) Greyness.

(screenshot attached, it's just left of the volume control)
