** Description changed:

  I’m running intrepid, opensync 0.22-2, opensync-plugin-gnokii 0.22-1,
  libgnokii3 0.6.26.dfsg-2.

When entries are synchronized from the phone (Nokia 6220) to evolution
/file-sync, any umlauts are replaced with question marks.

When entries are synchronized to the phone, any umlauts are replaced
with the letter preceding them repeated.

‘gnokii --getphonebook ME 1 end -v’ prints the umlauts just fine.

- The plugin seems to call ‘gn_char_set_encoding("UTF-8")’, so it at least
- tries to handle encoding.
+ In the discussion at http://opensync.org/ticket/809, it became clear
+ that the bug is in gnokii 0.6.26 and has been fixed in 0.6.27, which
+ apparently should be released today.
+
+ Could gnokii 0.6.27 still make it into intrepid, or must the fix be
+ backported to 0.6.26?
+
+ libgnokii 0.6.27 has a new SONAME; a no-change rebuild of libopensync-
+ plugin-gnokii would be needed.
