Public bug reported: If I turn up the AC97 volume handle in the ALSA mixer for my SbLive Value card a loud piercing squeal is emitted. I'm not sure what that particular volume knob is supposed to do but I'm sure it's not supposed to do that! Since upgrading to intrepid, my PC emits the same noise for about half a second while the PC boots up. Obviously, that's quite annoying!
I think it's a bug that the volume knob does that and that my PC emits that noise while booting. I'd expect a clearly labeled volume knob that controls the volume of a some channel, and no squeal at boot-up. ALSA info output at http://www.alsa- project.org/db/?f=62055bdc2d2a3e7823bee74cb53a3f9fb6b86436 Package is a guess since there's a lot of ALSA packages and it's not obvious which is the culprit. ** Affects: alsa-driver (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- [Hardy, Intrepid] Piercing squeal from SbLive value at boot and when turning up AC97 volume knob https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/278786 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
