To John Vivirito, yes same happenened to me , upgraded firefox cos
ubuntu (8.04) package manager said new vsn available , don't have google
eath tho'

bookmarks are gone, I can not add bookmarks or import bookmarks
backup, the toolbar does not work, the buttons back, then update are broken,
the bar gives direction errors
