Since this could result in the old logout applet being present, the
behaviour of that applet must be maintained.

So clicking on the old logout applet must present a dialog box with all
of the options that it previously had:

  Lock Screen
  Log Out
  Switch User
  Shut Down
  Suspend
  Hibernate
  Restart

Otherwise we are regressing on behaviour of that applet.
