A few additional questions: Do you use a desktop background? If you do use a desktop background are you using a compiz specific plugin to manage it? If you are using a background what are the settings? specifically tiled, scaled, zoomed, centered etc. If you are using a background is your desktop being managed by nautilus or some other application (what)?
