When running from the command line (with or without parameters) it simply outputs an error of the form 'Received SIGSEGV, core dumped' (I don't have that PC in front of me to get the exact wording)
I have not yet tried removing .thumbnails but as I mentioned I did remove all of the stored settings. I also tried purging and reinstalling the gthumb package, and then I tried reinstalling every installed package on the system that is backed by a repository. It didn't make any difference. I'll remove .thumbnails when I get home. Please let me know if you have any other suggestions for me.
