Public bug reported:

In (kubuntu) Gutsy I could use Elan U132 and the Option 3G Quad Lite for
UMTS internet access.

Since I updated from Gutsy to Hardy, the card does not work any more.
There are no ttyUSB0, ttyUSB1, ...

Booting a 2.6.22-15-generic kernel, ttyUSB* devices are there and I can
connect to the internet. But get system freeze after disconnect and
removing the U132.

When booting any 2.6.24 kernel, the U132 is detected. But there are no
ttyUSB* devices and the 3G Quad is not detected. Thus, no connection the
internet.

Does anybody have a solution for this problem?
