If you go to the site below you can look down the list of supported printers and see which ones are well supported.
http://www.openprinting.org/printer_list.cgi In _my_ experience, in _general_ HP printers tend to work pretty well. But that doesn't mean they all do, some don't. Best thing to do is make a note of the printers you like the look of in the shops or online, and then check the list at the above site.
