Hello, the freeze occurs on my machine as well, I have three different SATA harddrives on my computer, and I even tried with 3 others as well. The freeze seems to occur anywhere between 5GB to 20GB. My motherboard is quite old, 4 years or so, ASUS A7V600-X A, and it's SATA controller only supports 1.5Gbps transport.
The freeze occurs also when files are copied over in smaller sets, I tried with a script that copied over files less than 3GB each and slept 10minutes between each single copy. The freeze doesn't occur when the drives aren't used at maximum write speed, I have a DVB card and I can store the transport stream from there with no problem. (A few GB's per hour) Also, the freeze doesn't seem to occur with Intrepid Alpha 6 live cd, as I just successfully copied 100GB ok. I'm going to repeat that with some 500GB tomorrow, I let you know how that goes. -- cp command freezes desktop https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/158024 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
