Hi Pascal, I assume you're running the latest 2.6.27-4.6 kernel in which the e1000e driver was purposely removed due to bug 263555 . It's more of a precautionary measure. Here's the excerpt from the changelog:
https://edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/ "2.6.27-4.6 Published in intrepid-release 15 hours ago linux (2.6.27-4.6) intrepid; urgency=low [ Tim Gardner ] * Disable e1000e until the NVRAM corruption problem is found. - LP: #263555 " So this really isn't a bug per se but a temporary disablement until the real issue is solved. I suggest you subscribe to bug 263555 so that you are notified of any updates. Thanks. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- Intrepid: Intel 82566MM Gigabit network card not detected https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/274019 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
