Public bug reported: Here an issue (I think) with the last release of Ubuntu 8.10 (Alpha 6), tested on a machine using Ubuntu 8.04 with no problem.
Video Card : ATI Radeon HD3850 Screen : Samsung Syncmaster 191T on DVI * I first tried with LiveCd : 2 first screens are ok, but as soon as hardware detection starts, my screen lost the video signal. Well, I verified integrity of my Cd, everything is OK. * Then, I tried to install => Same thing, video signal lost during hardware detection. * Finally, I tried the last solution : upgrading to 8.10 with the 8.04 update manager. Everything was ok since I reboot (no error message during installation and configuration of new packages) : The "splash screen" was red, and full of little white square going down the screen... When I quickly looked the Xorg.0.log I saw that my video card seems to be well detected (there was a long list of video cards including mine), but X server didn't managed to launch properly. Hope this helps. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- [Intrepid Ibex Alpha 6] video card detection crash https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/273863 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
