I was running 8.10a5x64, with kernel-2.6.27-2. Everything was working fine. When I got an update to kernel-2.6.27-3, in a5, I updated, then rebooted to use the new kernel. When the system came back up, compiz was gone and glxinfo gave the same error as reported below. I moved back to using kernel-2, and everything was fine. When 8.10a6x86 came out, I did a fresh install, and therefore my only kernel was -3. When I booted this, I got the exact same glx error that I did in kernel-3 in a5. I think this is suffecient evidence to finger linux-image-2.6.27-3 as the culprit for this error. + + Here's what I exactly get when running glxinfo: + /$ glxinfo + name of display: :0.0 + Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0". + Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0". + Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0". + Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0". + Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0". + Error: couldn't find RGB GLX visual or fbconfig + + Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0". + Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0". + Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0". + Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0". + Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0". + Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0". + Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0". + 3 GLXFBConfigs: + visual x bf lv rg d st colorbuffer ax dp st accumbuffer ms cav + id dep cl sp sz l ci b ro r g b a bf th cl r g b a ns b eat + ---------------------------------------------------------------------- + Segmentation fault (core dumped) + /$ Let me know if you need more info.
