Running latest Ubuntu 8.10. I have the same problem with Samsung ML-1520, ML-2010 and ML-2510 Test page prints OK, but without Ubuntu logo Evince prints garbage and mostly black page. OpenOffice prints black page.
Tried http://openprinting.org/download/printdriver/debian/dists/lsb3.2/main/binary-i386/splix_2.0.0-0.rc2.0lsb3.2_i386.deb with the same results.
