Thanks Sebastien :) Ok, so when I run it in valgrind the GUI does appear, albeit slowly as expected. I get the following:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ G_SLICE=always-malloc G_DEBUG=gc-friendly valgrind -v --tool=memcheck --leak-check=full --num-callers=40 --log- file=valgrind.log xchat-gnome (xchat-gnome:6621): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_widget_set_sensitive: assertion `GTK_IS_WIDGET (widget)' failed (xchat-gnome:6621): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_widget_set_sensitive: assertion `GTK_IS_WIDGET (widget)' failed [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ So I went back to trying to run xchat-gnome normally and the same symptoms of the starting the app appears, then vanishes, with the xchat- gnome process hanging around. Valgrind log is attached. ** Attachment added: "valgrind" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/17740649/valgrind.log ** Changed in: xchat-gnome (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => New -- Gnome Xchat Wont Display https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/271734 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
