Sebastien thanks for following up on this bug. I went to the link you gave for getting the backtrace software. The repository sources lines did not work when I replaced hardy with intrepid.
Here are some additional things I have learned: It is almost certainly caused by the visualisation (GOOMBA) because Totem does not crash when I disable the visualisation. It also seems to be a clash between the visualisation and compiz because it does not crash when desktop-effects are turned off. Compiz On + Visualisation On = Totem Crashes Compiz On + Visualization Off = Totem does not crash Compiz Off + Visualization On = Totem does not crash Compiz Off + Visualization Off = Totem does not crash Here is my video card: 01:05.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RS480 [Radeon Xpress 200G Series] Here is the video driver: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ grep _drv /var/log/Xorg.0.log (II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers//ati_drv.so (II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers//radeon_drv.so (II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/multimedia//theatre_detect_drv.so (II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/input//evdev_drv.so -- Totem Crashes When Trying to Open an MP3 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/270357 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
