Running similar hardware (P5E-VM HDMI Rev 1.00G), with a fresh FC9
install got the same behavior (hard lock).  Ran the FLASH update from
405 to 604 and still get the hang.  Disabled X from starting and and
everythign seemed fine.  startx and all is well.  Close X and start it
again and hard hang.  Nothing in the logs that seemed interesting.

So, it would seem that initializing the video twice seems to be the
trigger.

The Intel WEB site lists a variety of errata for the 82G35 chipset.

Alex, did you do anything else that might have corrected the problem?
