for Fn+F3 (Battery status) I get

state 0x0, keycode 244 (keysym 0x0, NoSymbol), same_screen YES,
XLookupString gives 0 bytes:

XFilterEvent returns: False
Those keys do not work any more in intrepid, but worked fine under
Hardy. The mute, volume, and screen brightness keys do work and also
trigger the gnome-settings-daemon/compiz feedback windows, but don't
generate KeyPress xevs. Instead I just get some focus out/in (probably
due to the transient g-s-d window) and
KeymapNotify event, serial 34, synthetic NO, window 0x0,
keys: 2 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
This is for my existing user account which I have since Hardy.
