i have a similar problem with my Canon A610
in dapper autodetect - autorun gnome-volume-manager-gtumb works fine, but after 
upgrade to edgy it stop auto working.

after plug my camera to usb nothing happend :( but when i'm typing
manualy in conosole gnome-volume-manager-gthumb, then i can import
images as well as in dapper.

dmesg | grep usb
