I have tried Debian Etch, and that also has the same problem. if you boot with a 2.4 kernel not 2.6), everything is fine. I am doing this at the moment, but then am going to replace the 2.4 kernel with a 2.6 one. I think my machine will then become unbootable. >From this I can conclude that it is not actually SILO that is buggy, for some reason, the 2.6 kernel just doesn't seem very happy on U10 (and 5's?).
