** Description changed: I have a problem with my new Asus notebook: Installing ubuntu: 1) boot up with liveCD 2) choose 1st option - crash somewhere 3) search on google - found: try acpi=off noapic nolapic 4) boot up again 5) start the livecd with acpi=off - wokring 6) install ubuntu 8.04 Hardy 7) reboot computer 8) booting up to the fresh instalation - crash somewhere 9) try withuot splash and quiet - the last line says: "ACPI: EC: EC description table is found, configuring boot EC" and the system stopped... 10) the system starts up only with acpi=off param! BUT HAVE A NOTEBOOK WITHOUT ACPI??? I need some solution because I want to know the batrery state or use the function buttons like brightness and volume control my notebook: ASUS M51Tseries, AMD Turion RM70 - ubuntu 8.04 x86 [2.6.14-19] - also starts up with acpi=ht param - ubuntu 8.04 amd64 [2.6.14-19] - only acpi=off + ubuntu 8.04 x86 [2.6.24-19] - also starts up with acpi=ht param + ubuntu 8.04 amd64 [2.6.24-19] - only acpi=off ubuntu 8.10 amd64 [2.6.27-2] - not tested completly - acpi=off works
