I've seen the reference to the 2.6.27 kernel, but as far as I can see, it's not in the APT repository, and unless it can be installed quickly from a package, it'll take too much time away from the tasks the machine is actually meant to be used for to test a new kernel. Not to mention that ascertaining whether the bug is still there is a process which has to last at least a day.
