Web interface is deprecated in Ubuntu. If you want to use it, you have
to remove both Include directives in cupsd.conf, since CUPS is unaware
of all of its directives (it doesn't check settings in included files).

** Summary changed:

- Web interface crashes when restarting cups
+ Using web interface makes CUPS unusable

** Description changed:

- I've installed Ubuntu Dapper Drake and use the webinterface off cups at
- http://localhost:631.
+ Adding cupys user to shadow, and then making changes trough web
+ interface, results in CUPS being unusable.

- I've added the cupsys user to the shadow group to be able to use the web
- interface to install printers etc.
+ Problem is that, when saving changes, CUPS doesn't read content of
+ included files (ports.conf and browse.conf) but adds Listen and Browsing
+ directives in cupsd.conf.

- When i'm in the admin part of the web interface and i click on the
- 'Change settings' button i get a new page on which cups tells me: Please
- stand by while the server restarts...
-
- After a few seconds i get an error page from firefox that the page it
- can't connect to localhost:631. I have type sudo /etc/init.d/cupsys
- restart to be able to access the web interface again.
-
- I don't know if it's related, but when i do dmesg i get the following
- notifications:
-
- [4298900.166000] ppdev0: unregistered pardevice
- [4298971.817000] ppdev0: registered pardevice
- [4298971.839000] ppdev0: negotiated back to compatibility mode because
user-space forgot
- [4298971.839000] ppdev0: unregistered pardevice
- [4299181.990000] ppdev0: registered pardevice
- [4299182.018000] ppdev0: negotiated back to compatibility mode because
user-space forgot
- [4299182.018000] ppdev0: unregistered pardevice
+ CUPS should save changes for "Listen" and "Browsing" options in those
+ included files, not in cupsd.conf.

** Changed in: cupsys (Ubuntu)
