I've done some further testing of this bug on another machine that doesnt have a problem with the visualisation not working. The bug is not reproducable on that machine.
However, it would still be a good idea to try and identify what is causing the problem here and perhaps try and catch and handle any exceptions that are being thrown. If anyone knows enough about totem or programming in general and is willing to help me further identify this problem, then please contact me and I'll try and help in any way I can.
