It would seem that the package php4-ldap postinst script does add
selection load ldap.so albeit how it
does this exactly isn't quite clear as it seem to query debconf....in
any case I somehow ran into a circumstance
where this didn't happen....perhaps because I had fiddled with trying to
use php5
