Public bug reported:

I have problems with wireless networking. About every 5 minutes,
*something* (I couldn't detect what it is yet, probably some ACPI-
scripts) sets the txpower of my wireless network interface to down to 8.
Normally it starts with something like 15.

Everytime this happens my connection totally breaks, even if I'm sitting
directly in front of the access point. As soon as I manually reset the
txpower to about 15, the connection is back there. Five minutes later,
it is at 8 again and my connection lost.

This is really bothering , and I couldn't find what is the cause for
this behavior. It also happens with acpid, acpi-support, hald-addon-acpi
and laptop-mode down.

Maybe it is worth mentioning that iwlist ath0 txpower doesn't even list
the value of 8, so this could be the problem, something trying to set
the txpower to an illegal value.

I am using madwifi-ng drivers (latest svn) with the dapper stock kernel,
the wireless nic is an atheros mini pci express card from IBM.

** Affects: Ubuntu
     Importance: Untriaged
