I experience the same problems, but I am not sure if it has something to do with multi-heading. Like one of the posters before also stated, my X freeze problems begun shortly before Dapper was released as final in the end of May 2006. Since this time I get occasional freezes at least one time a day. I have an Thinkpad X31 with a Mobility Radeon M6 and use the "radeon" driver with no multi-head set up .. Its extremly annoying and I would be happy if someone could provide an old xserver-xorg-ati package to solve that grave bug.
