Yesterday I upgraded the original hdd with a brand new one with 80 GB
and reinstalled ubuntu from scratch. Then I upgraded and hibernation
worked, even without the resume=/dev/hda5 and with the splash screen
enabled. The only problem I have encountered is when I use vga=791 (or
792): in this case the computer hibernates, but when I turn it on it
goes through a normal startup, not a dis-hibernation.
