I installed 2.6.17-1 and 2.6.17-2 from edgy repositories. I reboot after each installation : Whan I try to remove the 2.15-22, I still get the message : "perl: warning: Setting locale failed. perl: warning: Please check that your locale settings: LANGUAGE = "fr_FR:fr:en_GB:en", LC_ALL = (unset), LANG = "fr_FR.UTF-8" are supported and installed on your system. perl: warning: Falling back to the standard locale ("C"). locale: Cannot set LC_CTYPE to default locale: No such file or directory locale: Cannot set LC_MESSAGES to default locale: No such file or directory locale: Cannot set LC_ALL to default locale: No such file or directory (Reading database ... 82659 files and directories currently installed.) You are running a kernel (version 2.6.15-22-powerpc) and attempting to remove the same version. This is a potentially disastrous action. Not only will /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.15-22-powerpc be removed, making it impossible to boot it, (you will have to take action to change your boot loader to boot a new kernel), it will also remove all modules under the directory /lib/modules/2.6.15-22-powerpc. Just having a copy of the kernel image is not enough, you will have to replace the modules too. I repeat, this is very dangerous. If at all in doubt, answer no. If you know exactly what you are doing, and are prepared to hose your system, then answer Yes." So I got four Linux kernel installed on my up-to-date edgy eft, and I'm still using the oldest. When I installed the 2.6.17-1, I got this message : "perl: warning: Setting locale failed. perl: warning: Please check that your locale settings: LANGUAGE = "fr_FR:fr:en_GB:en", LC_ALL = (unset), LANG = "fr_FR.UTF-8" are supported and installed on your system. perl: warning: Falling back to the standard locale ("C"). locale: Cannot set LC_CTYPE to default locale: No such file or directory locale: Cannot set LC_MESSAGES to default locale: No such file or directory locale: Cannot set LC_ALL to default locale: No such file or directory Gtk-WARNING **: Locale not supported by C library.
