I recently updated to the 2.6.15-25 kernel. This problem has (mostly) gone away. I no longer experience frequent touchpad mouse problems. Realtime audio still has some latency glitches, but they seem to be down in the 4 msec range now (worst case observed so far).
using: linux-image-2.6.15-25-k7/dapper uptodate 2.6.15-25.43 I think this bug can be closed as fixed in release, if you like. If I see more problems, it can be reopened.
