Writing dvds worked on Breezy for me and other people (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=182415), but after upgrading to Dapper it stopped. Dvdrecord stopped working, but maybe it's a different issue - tests with growiso and cdrecord-prodvd. Now concerning kernel - I have dvds burned on Breezy and they are readable / mountable. None of dvds burned on Dapper are (those which were burned succesfully). Tests with cdrecord-prodvd. IDE settings are the same in all cases. Same box and software versions. It was tested many times with different dvds - always the same result. What logs would be useful?
