Public bug reported:

Description of the package says:

"This is a standalone tool to import raw data from high-end digital
cameras."

This is wrong, because cameras like Canon Digital Rebel XT (350D) or
Nikon D70 are not hi-end, they are prosumer class digital still cameras.
Hi-end as a term overall is unlikely applicable to DSLRs.

"ufraw has lots of preprocessing options which seem to duplicate gimp's
features. Unfortunately, they are necessary because its 8-bit limitation
would cause major quality problems."

This is wrong as well. There are only two settings that somehow
duplicate GIMP's functionality: saturation handle and curves. And,
again, UFRaw handles several types of TRC curves, whil GIMP supports
only its own curves. Most of other "settings" like white balance
correction, white balance presets, black point, exposure etc. are
unmatched in GIMP.

** Affects: ufraw (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Untriaged
         Status: Unconfirmed
