I have what seem to be identical symptoms and have tried the same things. I'm trying to print to a Xerox N215 and an HP dj6127. Installing the drivers went fine, get the same errors.
Tried raw/que. No test page output. Can't give you the errors that occurred becuase it didn't write any to the log, however, I may have screwed up error logging. I sudo rm'd the "live" error_log, touched a new one and chown'd it to cupsys (should be fine?) and since I did that it doesn't seem to be logging errors, yet the results (test pages hang under all conditions) are the same.
