Meanwhile I tried to use the vt8251 patch for kernel 2.6.16, but it also doesn't work. Until now I had no time to check the 2.6.17 version of the patch. It would help to know from where the libata backport in the 20 or 21 release came, 2.6.16 or 2.6.17 (if the problem is related to that at all).
