Your article and others helped. I'm not sure I understand the print42 example. Is it that the name is produced in the first module, and the body of the it isn't available to the second module?  I'll post in a few minutes a comment about my  PIL vs Tkinter post made earlier than this one. It's less related to this thread.

Do you mean how to restore an interactive session?
If so, then in IDLE you can use: Shell->Restart shell.

I don't know how to do that in any of the other
IDEs...

You can of course del() any name, including modules...
