I don't think this is possible, at least without creating a custom-compiled version of Firefox. There's a little bit of discussion from last year on the python mailing list here: http://mail.python.org/pipermail/python-list/2006-November/415805.html There's some more information available out there if you search for PyXPCOM or python and nsdom.
