A friend of mine is the author of "Just Java," "Not Just Java," "Expert C Programming," and "Peter van der Linden's Guide to Linux." When looking up his books on Amazon, I found "Great Lakes Ships We Remember" and "Forest and Shade Trees of Iowa" by an entirely different Peter van der Linden. "The Official Handbook of Practical Jokes" is his, though.
