Fails to turn backlight off on MX4

Bug description:
It seems that the backlight on the MX4 is not being consistently
turned off; if you lock the screen and take the phone into a darkened
room it's clear that the backlight is on.
It *sometimes* seems to be turned off after a minute, but not
consistently. I've had the backlight stay on overnight on an otherwise
idle phone.
