changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem
may have been fixed with some of the updates. Ubuntu 9.04 is no longer
supported, it would help us a lot if you could test it on a currently
supported Ubuntu version. When you test it and it is still an issue,
kindly upload the updated logs by running apport-collect -p cups 398193
and provide you cups error log after trying to print from eog/gimp as
described here:

printer clp-550 very slow with software eog and gimp

Bug description:
Binary package hint: cups
I have print a image with firefox and printer has worked perfectly,
then same image was printed from eog and gimp but very slow. I have
test other printer (CLP-550) connect with USB cable on other computer
with ubuntu 9.04 64 bit and problem persists. Now, I do not know
whether it would depend on cups, I could not understand, but I am
already 3 months that I try to resolve without any results
