As per http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/product- support/product/precision-t5500/drivers an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (A16). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything?

It takes an awful amount of time to open a new window, and during that time the mouse is trapped into one of the monitors (cannot move to the other one). Also I've noticed that the Unity notification bar freezes and I cannot access any of the icons there, and the clock is just frozen. HDD, memory and CPU load seem normal.
