Could not reproduce it on Ubuntu 14.04.1 + subdownloader 2.0.14-1.1. (BTW, the original report was filed against Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, which is still supported... whatever... if no one bothered to confirm it for 1.5 years, I won't care neither.)

The icon never ever appears, so if I minimize the subdownloader main window, the application will keep running but it won't be visible anymore to the average user. (Or even me - I just noticed that I had 4 instances of it running...) If subdownloader is started from gnome-terminal, the bug doesn't appear.
