X will not start, and the machine falls to a command prompt. Typing startx starts everything and it's possible to proceed. I should note that that my machine has an nvidia 560M graphics card in it, and is running the nouveau driver on the ISO. Rick Timmis on the kubuntu-developer list notes: > I can confirm, same problem install fails on init-rcd scriot, and complains about saned, and drops to command prompt. I> too typed startx, and was off and running again, amd64 iso, which is 1.2Gd a DVD image.
