sudo apt-get install --reinstall util-linux If that still fails the same way, perhaps try: sudo dpkg -P --force-all util-linux sudo apt-get install util-linux ** Changed in: util-linux (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to util-linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1394790 Title: package util-linux 2.20.1-5.1ubuntu20.3 failed to install/upgrade: package is in a very bad inconsistent state; you should reinstall it before attempting configuration Status in util-linux package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: crushing on installs ProblemType: Package DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04 Package: util-linux 2.20.1-5.1ubuntu20.3 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.13.0-39.66-generic 3.13.11.8 Uname: Linux 3.13.0-39-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.14.1-0ubuntu3.5 Architecture: amd64 Date: Thu Nov 20 09:18:37 2014 DpkgTerminalLog: dpkg: error processing package util-linux (--configure): package is in a very bad inconsistent state; you should reinstall it before attempting configuration DuplicateSignature: package:util-linux:2.20.1-5.1ubuntu20.3:package is in a very bad inconsistent state; you should reinstall it before attempting configuration ErrorMessage: package is in a very bad inconsistent state; you should reinstall it before attempting configuration InstallationDate: Installed on 2014-11-01 (19 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu-Kylin 14.04.1 LTS "Trusty Tahr" - Release amd64 (20140722.1) SourcePackage: util-linux Title: package util-linux 2.20.1-5.1ubuntu20.3 failed to install/upgrade: package is in a very bad inconsistent state; you should reinstall it before attempting configuration UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/util-linux/+bug/1394790/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages Post to : touch-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
