Bug description:
There was an announcement [1] this week that Ubuntu Desktop 25.10 will
no longer include the Xorg session. Ubuntu Desktop no longer needs
xserver-xorg in the default install and is working on removing it
there. The 'xorg' metapackage has a hard dependency on xserver-xorg.
  'xorg' is included in desktop-common.

Therefore, we need 'xorg' to be removed from desktop-common and
individually added to all the other Ubuntu desktop flavor seeds.

I believe xorg installs unnecessary components and you might want to
pick and choose pieces instead. For instance, I don't think most
  desktops need x11-apps or xcursor-themes.

You will need xserver-xorg if you install a session that uses xorg. If
you also include a Wayland session, you might want to split the Xorg
session to a separate binary package like Ubuntu Desktop 25.04 did
with ubuntu-session-xsession to allow people to try uninstalling that
package to use only the Wayland session.
