Title:
Builtin sound speakers and audio jack is not working in 24.04.2 LTS

Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Dear Ubuntu Support!

A few months ago after an official update the sound on my laptop was not
working at all.
I have completely reinstalled, using Ubuntu 24.04.2 LTS and during the
install, sound was working, but the first time I connected to WiFi and accepted
the builtin "Software Updater" recommended update, it went wrong again. No
sound at all. Via Bluetooth headset it is still working.

In Settings->Sound Output section, the "Output Device" is "Dummy
Output". Of course not working by clicking Test button next to it. It
should be "Family 17h/19h HD Audio Controller".

I think the problem is: There should be linux-modules-
extra-6.11.0-26-generic under /lib/modules/ folder. But I can see only
module without "extra". I have seen some info on internet, that kernel
modules are shipped in two packages, normal and extra. Most of the
sound driver modules are shipped in the extra.

I could not install the module, so I can not verify this assumption. (Kernel
downgrade also works, but I have not tried.)
I still have a faulty laptop sound. I can not solve this issue.

I have found the most helpful discussion here:
  https://superuser.com/questions/1816355/how-to-install-sound-driver-
  on-ubuntu-20-04

BTW: During 24.04.2 install I had to disable WiFi, otherwise it was failing
without Error message, I could see only some segfault from Python3.10. But this
is another bug.

  Best Regards,
  Gabor
