That many busy threads in gnome-shell either means it's using LLVM
(software rendering) or there's a buggy extension.

Please run:

  cd ~/.local/share/gnome-shell/
  rm -rf extensions

and log in again. If that hasn't fixed it then run:

  journalctl -b0 > journal.txt

and attach the resulting text file here.

Another thing to try is:

  sudo apt install libnvidia-egl-wayland1

and log in again.

Title:
High CPU usage during basic desktop interactions (e.g., mouse
movement) in Ubuntu 24.10 after upgrade from 24.04

Status in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Problem Description:

After successfully upgrading the system from Ubuntu 24.04 LTS to the
current Ubuntu 24.10 development release, I am experiencing extremely
high CPU utilization across all cores, frequently exceeding 80%. This
high usage occurs even during very basic desktop operations when the
  system should be mostly idle.

  This issue was not present on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS prior to the upgrade;
system performance and CPU usage were normal then.

  Observed Result:

Even during simple actions like moving the mouse cursor while holding
the left button down on the empty desktop background, or typing in
basic applications, the CPU utilization across all cores spikes
dramatically, often exceeding 80% and remaining high as long as the
action continues. General system responsiveness can feel sluggish due
  to this high CPU load.

  Additional Information:

This problem started immediately after the distribution upgrade from
24.04 to 24.10.
I have recorded a video demonstrating this high CPU usage during simple
interactions. The video can be viewed at:
