In 24.04 I installed software-properties-gtk from proposed, started orca, the screen reader, went to Updates tab and
*Pressed Tab to focus the 1st box, screen reader said "Subscibed to colon, combo box, custom", where custom was indeed the selected value of the combo box. *Pressed Tab to focus the 2nd box, screen reader said "Automatically check for updates colon, combo box, daily". where daily was indeed the selected value of the combo box. *Pressed Tab to focus the 3rd box, screen reader said "When there are security updates colon, combo box, download and install automatically". where download and install automatically was indeed the selected value of the combo box. *Pressed Tab to focus the 4th box, screen reader said "When there are other updates colon, combo box, display weekly". where display weekly was indeed the selected value of the combo box. *Pressed Tab to focus the 5th box, screen reader said "Notify me of a new Ubuntu version colon, combo box, for long-term support versions". where for long-term support versions was indeed the selected value of the combo box. This is working as intended. ** Tags removed: verification-needed verification-needed-noble ** Tags added: verification-done verification-done-noble -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to software-properties in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2091547 Title: Updates - combo titles missing from the screen reader Status in software-properties package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in software-properties source package in Noble: Fix Committed Status in software-properties source package in Oracular: Fix Committed Bug description: [ Impact ] The combo selectors on the Updates tab are missing a labelled-by relation to their header (the label on the left) which makes the option difficult to understand for screen reader users [ Test case ] - activate the screenreader - select Updates tab - navigate through the widgets using the keyboard (using 'TAB' to cycle between the elements) The focus should go through the combo options and read for each their value as well as the corresponding label (the text on the left of the option) [ Where problems could occur ] The change adds an accessibility->labelled-by entry to the .ui for those elements. If the relation was wrongly set an incorrect label could be read for some of the widgets To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/software-properties/+bug/2091547/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages Post to : touch-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
