If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command: sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

Maximized windows (especially gvim) have rectangular regions of their titlebar totally invisible and transparent, so the contents of whatever window or image is behind them shows through. Easy to reproduce but problem disappears once a screenshot is taken :/ 2. Strange "diagonal display corruption" in firefox, usually random glyphs appearing on top of the website, but sometimes it is other "illegible data" similarly aligned in diagonal lines. Happens several times per day. Screenshot attached. 3. Occasionally some glyphs from any/all apps disappear, leaving an "alphabet soup" type effect where only a certain proportion of letters in displayed text is visible.
