Daniel Drake, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. As per https://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&FamilyId=36&ProductID=3782&ProdId=3782 an update to your BIOS is available (0041). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command: sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette . Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't have to create a new bug report. Once the BIOS is updated, then please mark this report Status New. Thank you for your understanding. ** Tags added: bios-outdated-0041 ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Low ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1394997 Title: Intel graphics corruption since upgrade to Ubuntu 14.10 Status in xorg package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Since upgrading from Ubuntu 14.04 to Ubuntu 14.10, I have been seeing graphics corruption under GNOME 3 several times per day, including: 1. Maximized windows (especially gvim) have rectangular regions of their titlebar totally invisible and transparent, so the contents of whatever window or image is behind them shows through. Easy to reproduce but problem disappears once a screenshot is taken :/ 2. Strange "diagonal display corruption" in firefox, usually random glyphs appearing on top of the website, but sometimes it is other "illegible data" similarly aligned in diagonal lines. Happens several times per day. Screenshot attached. 3. Occasionally some glyphs from any/all apps disappear, leaving an "alphabet soup" type effect where only a certain proportion of letters in displayed text is visible. Hardest to reproduce, perhaps twice per week, I'll take a screenshot next time.
